Congratulations to Spencer Shelton, an OIHS Freshman, who is one of 25 Chicago high school students selected into the After School Matters Gallery37 program Painting on Canvas. There were hundreds of Chicago students who applied for the selective programs and Spencer was chosen to be an Apprentice at Gallery37. This program allows students to develop their artistic talents in a work based program. The program began on February 1 and is held every Monday after school for three hours and on Saturdays for six!. At the end of the apprenticeship the students artwork will displayed and for sale at Gallery37. Good job Spencer!

Congratulations to Ogden alumnus Jordan Lott and current Ogden International High School student Gregory "Bakari" Riverapenrice as they are included in the MY WORLD PROJECT II. It was just released this week and features the photography and stories of Chicago HS students. The book was edited by acclaimed National Geographic photographer, Mike Hettwer.
You can actually view the entire book online, too, and towards the back, it shows the photos, names and short bios on the students, including what school they attend.

Ms. Cabrera is excited to announce that Ogden is now a part of the Cultural Exchange Creative Connections Program!
I am proud to announce that our 6th graders are a part of Art Link, a culture art exchange program! Our students have spent the last few weeks exploring traditions and cultures from other families from around the world and then had the opportunity to share their own by creating an 11x15 watercolor piece. Their art work is now on it's way around the world to a final destination of either Japan, India or Mexico. Take a look at some of the work here! Once the art work arrives to the destination it will be displayed in a school with an artist profile of each of our students! Please visit Ms.Cabrera's website for more information. http://mscabrera.wordpress.com/
