C.H.O.I.C.E. History

C.H.O.I.C.E. was crafted and molded here at Ogden School through the vision of Mr. Kenneth M. Staral and the guidance of the CHOICE faculty. We recognize the need for an out-of-school curriculum that encompasses student-centered exploration both in the classroom and beyond the school walls.

For many students, Chicago is the center of "their world." C.H.O.I.C.E. will stretch that vision and provide a new lens in which to view "our world."

As the C.H.O.I.C.E. Program continues to grow, our key philosophy has not changed; we believe in providing exceptional learning opportunities that will push them to new heights, both academically and developmentally.

C.H.O.I.C.E. Classes

CHOICE classes are currently held two days a week during students' designated lunch period. 6th and 7th grade students attend "working" lunches on Thursdays. 8th graders attend "working" lunches on Friday. Mr. McCormick and Mr. Streit are wrapping up their mini-lessons on Africa and micro-lending which culminated in December with a guest speaker, the former CEO of BBD Needham Wordwide, Susan Gillette. Imminent curriculum on the near horizon, Mr. Fleischer and Ms. Youkhana will be teaching about the Francophile world and its place in history past, present and future.
