Admissions Requirements

Ogden School is a neighborhood school.
New student registration information:

-Tuesday, August 17, 2010 - 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.; 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
-Thursday, August 19, 2010 - 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.; 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

These are the documents you will need to enroll your child into our school:

• Original Birth Certificate or certified copy
• Completed Ogden School Enrollment Form (if possible)
• Parent/Guardian proof of residency (2 Forms Required) Utility Bills are preferred
• Proof of Medical Compliance - See 2009-2010 Minimum Health Requirements
• Proof of School Dental Examination Form
• Certificate of Child Health Examination Form

Due to budget cuts facing the Chicago Public Schools and to provide equity to all students, we are being forced to revert back to half-day programs unless we identify a solution to our funding problem. Kindergarten is not mandated by the state and the Chicago Public Schools only provides schools a half-day program, unless students reside in high poverty communities.  In order to provide a full day kindergarten program not exceeding maximum class sizes, we are suggesting that parents/guardians make a donation to the Friends of Ogden Kindergarten Fund for $2500.00. The donation will cover the costs associated with a teacher’s salary and benefits, textbooks, and other necessary furniture and equipment.  This tax-deductible donation may be made by cash or credit card in the Ogden Main Office.   If we are able to raise the necessary funds, then we will revert to a full day kindergarten.  A donation of $2500.00 basically comes down to less than $15.00 a day (less than $5.00 per instructional hour) per student.  The donation will also cover the school Supply Fee.
